All Urban Kanga products are tested and certified to meet or exceed European safety regulations and carry the ECE R44/04 safety certification. To check your car seat's certification, you can look under the seat of your Urban Kanga. Details are printed on an orange label, and it should show that it is certified compliant to ECE R44/04.
Please read the following for further technical information on the Urban Kanga:
- The Urban Kanga is a forward facing car seat with a weight requirement of 9-18 kg. It is not convertible and should not be installed rear facing.
- Please check in your vehicle owner's manual that your car can fit a "universal" child restraint system approved to regulation number 44, 04 series of amendments, for general use in vehicles. If you've lost your manual, or you need to be sure, feel free to contact us - make an appointment with us so that you can make sure it fits in your car before you purchase!
- The Urban Kanga needs to be installed with a three-point seat belt, approved to UN/ECE regulation number 16 or other equivalent standards.
- The seal of approval and the approval number can be found on the orange approval sticker on the bottom of the Urban Kanga. This product has been classified as a "universal" child restraint under stricter conditions than earlier products.
- Please observe the instructions for using children's restraining systems in the operating instructions of your vehicle.
- The included user guide is full of important information. We recommend reading through it so that under proper care and installation, your child can maximize the protective properties of the car seat.
- When properly installed, your child's head should not rise above the headrest. If it does, you can extend it upwards to fit your child. If the headrest is fully extended and the back of your child's head still protrudes from the headrest without support, then the Urban Kanga is not the right solution for your child's build. You may contact us for a customized solution that fits your child.

This product carries the European ECE R44/04 safety certification.
Where can I use the Urban Kanga?
As long as your car is fitted with three-point retractor seat belts, the Urban Kanga can be installed in the rear left, center, or right of the car in its forward facing position. It should never be installed with a two-point seat belt alone.
What if I want to install the Urban Kanda rear facing?
The Urban Kanga is designed to only be used forward facing.
Taxi Baby carries different solutions for different families - if you're looking for a rear facing car seat or convertible car seat, check out our other options!
Does the Urban Kanga fit in the middle seat of the back of the car?
Yes it does. However, it needs to be installed with a three-point seat belt. As long as it is installed with a three-point retractable seat belt in its forward facing position, the Urban Kanga can be used in the middle, left, or right of the car.
Is the Urban Kanga seat cover washable?
Yes it is! This information can be found in the user instruction manual that is included in the box, from page 54 to page 58.
I'm having issues with my Urban Kanga. What do I do?
Our team at Taxi Baby wants to make sure that you are able to use your car seat with ease of mind. If you've purchased your Urban Kanga from Taxi Baby, feel free to contact us for help with installation or any product-related questions!
Is the Urban Kanga airplane-approved?
The Urban Kanga is within carry-on limitations set by most aircraft. Generally, the Urban Kanga can be brought onto the aircraft, but we recommend checking the policies with your airline or calling them to check. Please note that while it can be brought on as carry-on luggage, it cannot be used in-flight. This is because the Urban Kanga has to be installed with a three-point retractable seat belt, while airplanes are only fitted with two-point lap belts.
What are the differences between the Urban Kanga and Cosco Scenera NEXT?
We've summarised the key differences between these two car seats (please refer to the table below). There is a significant lifestyle difference between the two seats - The Cosco is great if you plan to use a compatible stroller and allows you to have the child buckled in the car seat before the taxi arrives - then, just transfer child+Cosco into the taxi, secure the Cosco and away you go.
The Kanga needs to be installed in the vehicle before the child is buckled into it. This means the child needs to be safely buckled into a stroller, supervised by a companion, or waiting for you inside the taxi while you install the Kanga - then you can buckle the child into the Kanga. This can add a little 'loading time' once the taxi has arrived. However, if your child doesn't like sitting in the car seat while you're out and about, letting them sit in the stroller seat instead might make the Kanga more suited to your family.

What are the folded dimensions of the Urban Kanga?
When folded, the dimensions are: L 58cm, W 34cm, D 17cm at the top and 18cm at the bottom.
Can the Urban Kanga fit in my stroller basket?
We've had success fitting it in the basket of some of the larger prams like the Baby Jogger City Select and Mountain Buggy Duet, but it's usually a bit too big for regular pram baskets. Another option is to hang the Urban Kanga's carry bag from the handle of your stroller.
Will the Urban Kanga fit on my stroller?
The Kanga is not designed to be used in the seating position of a stroller, or attach to a stroller with adapters (if you are specifically looking for this feature, consider the Cosco Scenera NEXT). However, many parents have managed to 'hack' the Kanga onto their stroller for mobility and convenience. We call these #strollerhacks, and most require the use of our #strollerhack pack which includes a small luggage strap (regular luggage straps are too long for this purpose), bungee cord and bungee loop. Most #strollerhacks mimic the mechanism of the Mountain Buggy Nano's universal car seat adapter, which is effectively an in-build luggage strap.
Here are some Urban Kanga #strollerhacks we've received so far. If you have one, please send it to us! If you can't find your stroller in the list, drop us an email, or give us a call on +65 8866 3351.

What is the shelf life of the Urban Kanga?
European seats are not required to specify an expiry date, but all plastic products degrade over time. The manufacturer recommends 1 seat = 1 child. Generally, it is not advisable to hand seats down for a multitude of reasons, even though there is no direct indication that there will be any degradation after 4-5 years. Based on this, we do not recommend using your Urban Kanga after it's older than 6 years.
The carry bag that came with my Urban Kanga is broken/torn! Can you send me a replacement?
Take some photos of your damaged Urban Kanga carry bag and reach out to us - if you bought your Urban Kanga from us, we'll send you a replacement. Please note that we only offer carry bag replacements if your bag is damaged from wear and tear. In the case of misplaced carry bags, we do not offer replacements.

Our engineers and product development team have all previously worked for leading car seat and baby product companies. The Urban Kanga portable car seat is produced and tested in the same production and testing facilities as most of the more well-known brands. This means that you can be confident that you are buying not only safety but quality as well.
We understand that safety is the number one concern when looking for a car seat for the most precious people in your life. As parents ourselves, we share this concern with you and are vigilant in safeguarding these standards. All Urban Kanga products are tested and certified to meet current European safety regulations under regulation R44/04. For more information on safety, please refer to our “safety” section.
We also understand that you have many options to choose from, each with their own array of features and promises. Not every car seat is suited to every family. We recommend that you assess your needs and travel habits and select a seat that is both suitable for your child and to your lifestyle.
Research has found that a startling 15% of parents do not put their toddler in a car seat for all car rides taken during a recent trip. The majority of instances where a car seat was not used involved taxi, car-share or ride share service. This can be largely due to the lack of a real solution that could cater to these mobile parents. We want to change this statistic by offering a safe solution while giving back to parents the freedom that they so often feel they have lost when traveling with children. This is the motivation behind our slogan – “inspired by freedom”.

All these countries are set up in our online store so you’ll receive cost and delivery estimates when you enter your address.
We offer two international shipping options: Registered Mail and Express Shipping via DHL Express (this is the fastest, most reliable and dependable courier we've ever used), and three local shipping options: Express Delivery via Ninja Van, Standard Shipping via Ninja Van or Singapore Post, or self-collection.
For delivery timeframes for each country, please take a look at our shipping policy.
We ship within Singapore. We offer:
- standard shipping (4-6 working days); $6 for orders under $49; free for orders over $49
- self-collection from our warehouse*, and
- next-day delivery; $10 for orders under $49; $6 for orders over $49

Please note: To avoid shipping delays, please provide a local contact number when prompted upon checkout. If there is a failure in delivery, Ninja Van will attempt a second delivery free of charge. If this delivery is unsuccessful, your parcel will be returned to us and we will then contact you - you may choose to do a self-collection from our warehouse at this point, or pay for re-delivery. (Re-delivery costs will vary by parcel dimensions.)
Please note that while we will do everything in our power to use the best service we can find and make sure your delivery runs smoothly, the delivery component is out of our control. You may provide instructions to our courier if no one is home, we'll pass the information on to the courier.
We ship around the world with DHL Express and Registered Mail. In our experience, DHL Express is an incredibly reliable service provider and shipments are handled by DHL Express personnel from beginning to end. Of all the couriers that we have access to in Singapore, DHL is the fastest shipping option humanly possible. We have found that local in-country postal services (Registered Mail) can be less reliable than DHL Express and delays should be expected.
How much will it cost?
When you reach the checkout page of our website, prices for your selected country will be shown. If you aren't seeing a DHL Express option, please double check your post code and address.
How long will it take?
DHL Express transit times are typically 1-4 business days globally, from dispatch date and we aim to dispatch all orders within 1 business day. Registered Mail transit times are shown at check out, but based on our experience, please expect delays.
Please note that estimated transit times are based on efficient processing at local customs checkpoints. Any delays at customs is solely accountable to the local customs operations and it completely beyond the control of DHL, the postal service provider and Plane Pal Asia.
Will I have to pay import taxes and/or duties upon delivery?
For orders sent by Registered Mail, the shipping cost generally includes prepaid taxes and duties so there should be no additional payment required upon delivery. Please note that each country's local postal service handles import taxes and duties differently and you may be requested to pay additional fees and charges. If you do, please let us know so that we can update this page for the benefit of other customers.
For orders sent by DHL Express, the shipping cost excludes taxes and duties applicable in the destination country and these will be charged to you, by DHL, upon delivery. Please note that import taxes and duties are the sole responsibility of your country's customs department and we have absolutely no control over the amount nor payment methods applied.
